Glad to have you drop by!
You’re welcome to grab a coffee or tea and join me as I relate some of my thoughts and opinions, insights and answers to prayer the Lord has blessed me with over the years. As you read these I hope you’ll be inspired to seek answers from the One Who has the full understanding of all your needs.
I’ve read many interesting and humorous little stories over the years that I’d like to share. I’m not the author of these, just retelling them in my own words; wherever possible I will state the origin but you can be sure that most of them come from copyright material. So if you want to reblog one of them, you’ll need to locate the author & publisher; I’ll help you if I can.
I’ve always loved to read; my interest in writing goes back to high school days. I can’t claim much credit for this ability, though; I come from a long line of storytellers. My grand-parents & great-grandmother were noted for reciting long poems; my Dad’s brothers were avid storytellers, too. Several of my siblings & cousins are also great storytellers and/or aspiring writers. So it’s in the genes.
I was born, raised and married in Saskatchewan. This is where I love to be, where I can see the open sky, the distant horizon, a zillion stars at night. After years of roaming around, living in five provinces, we’ve settled on an acreage about an hour SW of Saskatoon, with nature all around to inspire and delight us.
Bob and I were married in Moose Jaw, SK, on August 1, 1970. Our first home was in Manitoba where our daughter, Michelle, was born. Later we came back to Moose Jaw, then spent a few months in Alberta. We returned to Moose Jaw for several years, moved to southwestern Ontario in June of 1978 and lived there fifteen years before moving on to Quebec for five years. In 1998 we moved back to Saskatchewan. So our married life has been a “moving” experience; now we’re settled here with our children and grandchildren close by and we plan to stay put.
Although I had to do with churches sporadically and believed myself a Christian from my youth, I only met the Lord and became His child in November 1974, at the age of 21. I’ll never forget the night God brought me from being a nominal Christian to making the complete surrender He requires. Bob had a similar experience two months before we were married.
Not long after we were married we sought fellowship with other Christians and attended several different denominations in our early years. In 1975 the Lord directed us to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite; we became members in Feb 1979. We appreciate the strength and vision of the Church more and more as time goes on.
In December of 2008 I joined the His Imprint Christian writers’ group in Saskatoon; we meet once a month to mutually share and critique. This has been and continues to be a great stimulant for my creative muse. And one of those ladies introduced me to the wonderful world of blogging in January of last year. Now I have two blogs on the go: this one for my big thoughts and swallowinthewind.wordpress.com for small poems and anecdotes.
So I hope you’ll enjoy your visit here and feel free to leave comments. I’m always interested in suggestions for improving my site.
